UENO PLANET – Ueno Zoological Gardens

In collaboration with Misawa Design Laboratory at Nippon Design Center, we created the full 3DCG adaptation of UENO PLANET—a rotating 360-degree visualization of Tokyo’s Ueno Zoological Gardens.
Originally conceived as a printed illustration, the project involved reimagining a complex, hand-drawn universe into a seamless digital animation while preserving the poetic sensibility of the original art.
Our team conducted in-depth anatomical and behavioral studies of over 30 animal species, as well as meticulous modeling of plant life native to the zoo. Developed in close cooperation with Ueno Zoo, the resulting piece is both scientifically informed and richly imaginative—a fusion of artistic vision and natural realism.

日本デザインセンター・三澤研究室と共に、上野動物園の360度回転する「UENO PLANET」のCG化映像を担当しました。
もともと印刷物として存在していた繊細なイラストを、三澤さん独自の美学と世界観を損なうことなく立体的なCG映像として再構築することは、極めて難易度の高い挑戦でした。
30種以上の動物の動きを観察・研究し、骨格から再現したほか、上野動物園に生息する植物までも精緻にモデリング。園と密接に連携を取りながら、実在の魅力と空想的なビジュアルを融合させた映像作品をつくり上げました。
